Good for an inexpensive full-sized set

I've played Go for a while, but I only have a smaller 12"x11" board and I figured it was time to upgrade to a full-sized board.

If you have never played Go before, this probably isn't the right board for you. There are a variety of smaller board for much less money. Or you can try some of the online Go servers such as KGS.

If you already play go and are looking for an inexpensive full-sized board, this is the way to go. I've looked for a while at various sets and the separate pieces and this is the cheapest way I found to get a Japanese set.

The board is a Japanese sized board with glass stones. The stones feel good to play with and it is nice to be able to easily grab stones instead of carefully picking them up (as you need to do with the smaller sets). The plastic bowls are simple and get the job done. The board seems to be of good quality. It has 1" strips of wood glued together to make the bulk of the board with solid sheet of veneer on top to hide the strips. I haven't had it for long, so I can't comment on how it holds up over time. It seems to be well constructed, so I expect it to hold up well.

The stones are a little small (only 21.5mm or so rather than 22.1mm) so you won't get that pretty crowding of stones you get on real Japanese sets. And the stones are a little irregular in thickness, but not enough to be any sort problem. I also wish the back size had a 9x9 board instead of a 13x13, but that is a minor issue.

Orders typically arrive within 4 to 7 business days after leaving the warehouse. Keep in mind that delivery dates are estimates based on item availability, shipping location and shipping schedules. These delivery dates are not guaranteed.

For freight shipments, the freight carrier is not responsible for unloading the item from the truck or carrying it into your home. The freight carrier will contact you by phone to schedule a delivery date and time. We recommend having at least two able-bodied adults available at the time of delivery.
