Great for gym pick-up games
When the grandkids come over we always end up playing basketball, I played in college. They love to shoot hoops with PaPa. The ball handles very well and its better looking in person
great product
sounds great when it rips through the net.
I love this ball, but most casual players now days are used to synthetic basketballs that are super soft and grippy. Personally I don't think that's how a ball should feel, but I seem to be in the minority amongst the group I play with.
If you are used to playing with a soft, synthetic ball, this isn't what you want, but if you are willing to use it for a few months until it breaks in, and even then don't mind that it won't be as soft as all the synthetic balls out there, then you'll love this ball.
That said, this is how a real basketball should feel. Give it some time to break in and get used to, and you won't regret it
We have been training with these balls ever since the FIBA made the switch. Balls wear overtime because of our constant use, but the players like them. Purchased this one for our final week's of training so we had a new ball that better reflects what we'll be using in Beijing for the games.
The Molten Olympic GL7 basketball design leather cover appears at touch and view smaller than regulation compared to the ball used by the NBA. When new it is hard and has very little grip. After a couple of weeks you really get a good feel, great bounce and notice that it handles well. Although ballers fear using it in pick up games early on over time they will find out what they were missing. It is a great shooters ball that comes off the hands with powerful rotation. Ballers will experience the excellent control after breaking it in. I had to prove to many doubters by still photos from the Olympic games that this was in fact the ball being used by the worlds best athletes which is plenty good for me.
Just received my GL7 and it looks great but feels slippery and plastic. I may just have to break it in a little but it seems that the USA team's GL7 maybe different.
I had been looking for a leather basketball that is not over-priced and had a good feel for some time. [...]The ball is perfect for shooting, dribbling, and ball handling drills and it even looks great. The whole team loves it.I'm sure we will order more at some point.
